Gift Guide........

I wanted to share some of my favorite products for this season. Many of my fav's are of course from fellow Kansas City-ians.
Take a gander.

Tarot Deck Candle from Catbird in Brooklyn, NYC
This is an excellent unisex gift for a special friend who is not into "fruity/Floral" notes. I am hooked on this earthy pencil shaving and turkish rose blend. At first I felt it was a bit pricey but my instant love  won out. Long lasting and well worth the  $32.00

Interesting article.

I just finished reading this article.
I found it frightening but true.

Vintage Antiqued Silver Tone Exotic Bird Cabochon and Wood Earring and Necklace Set

Sorry for the delay of a new post! Today I am sharing a new listing with you.
I welcome feedback about the photography itself. What do you prefer as a consumer? I am always attracted to the creation of a feel or style of a piece. For example, using period objects in the photograph as props. For all new listings I will be going basic black.
Let me know your thoughts.......

This nouveau bohemian trio features antiqued silver tone vintage exotic bird cabochons, impressive vintage filigree beads, vintage refashioned vintage stained wood and unusual chain and "holed" barrel shaped drops.

Each piece features the exotic bird cabochon which measures 5/8" x 7/8" (17x22mm).
The settings are also an aged silver tone achieved by a secret recipe hand patina.

Large vintage filigree beads (3/8"x5/8" or 10x18mm) add visual contrast and interest to each piece.

The earrings offer secure closure through silver tone lever back hooks and scallop detail.

I have yet to find similar hollow holed barrel beads used for the graduated dangles that hang from the vintage stained wood necklace pendant. Each bead measures 3/16"x3/4" or 5x18mm.
Each bead has varying patina and should be recognized as character rather than flaw.

The overall length of the earrings are 2" or 50mm.

The chain length is 22" (280mm) the pendant lays at 11" (140mm).
Pendant size including bead dangles is 4 1/2" (115mm)

New listing, The Face of Time....

The concept of time. I always wonder what time it is? Really. What time is it? My iPhone has the time, the microwave in the kitchen has the time, my alarm clock has the time, my car even tells me what time it is?!?!?!?!

so what time is it really? The time I see isn't, most likely what you see.
Who gets to decide what time it is?
I get obsessed with this because unless i arrive 15 minutes early.. i will most definitely be 15 mins late.
I heard somewhere those of us who are habitually late, think we are more important than everyone else. No-I don't believe this. I have come to believe i just live in a different time zone than everyone else.......

Time does fly when you are having fun. It does not fly during a pap smear.

So lets ask the great oracle shall we?

I created this gal to remind me that time time is relative.

When you look into this pendant, the vintage glass dome amplifies and distorts the female resin face on the interior.
Thank you oh great one.
Oh-I am late for that pap smear. ;)

1940's fashion - Keeping Well Dressed

1940's fashion

Anything with a past.....

Well, those of you who frequent my shop, know I strive to use materials from the past. Items long since forgotten in a warehouse somewhere in eastern europe, dug from the earth buried since wwII, washed up on a mediterRanean beach or found in my own lush green backyard. I am inspired by items with age. I daydream about the time period, how the piece survived so long, who might of owned and even cherished it  and if it could speak, what stories might we heAR OF ITS ADVENTURES....

Today i want to introduce you to this romantic damsel. A west German Resin Cameo in high relief. Circa 1940's.

A little more inspiration? German film star Anneliese Uhlig. Va-Va-Voom. I would be more than happy to walk around each day through a diffusing filter!

New Listing......Vintage Bellini Demitasse Spoon Necklace!

I recently made a trip to our river market antiques. I selected several vintage spoons to use as pendants. First up are vintage bellini demitasse spoon necklaces. These are so adorable i had to keep one for my own collection.
Many of my designs are more "statement" pieces so I would like to offer a few more Demure designs for those out there who adore vintage/antique objects but looking for something a bit more on the simple side.

The State of Kansas Arts.........

I am astounded by the conversations of cutting arts funding in kansas.
i am a urban high school art teacher. i can safely say many of my students come to school solely for art class. i have watched many a student pass through my classroom showing their creative potential to me... other teachers may not see or be aware of. I have seen students with behavioral problems and various learning disabilities shine when given the opportunity to draw, paint, design and sculpt. I have taken students, who have been written off by society, to museums and galleries only to see their intelligence through observation and critique of the masters and contemporary artists. Human beings need culture and expression. It is the basis of all civilizations. Why is it being taken away from our young people?

Cute.

I found this photo on wikipedia under Japanese fashion. Never having been to Tokyo, it seems a fashion dream to an outsider.
I adore this goth outfit. It is so sweet....in a darkly romantic way. If I see her in a dim alley way she may come out the other side butt naked.....

Sneak Peak.....

Here is a a detail from one of my new pieces. This sexy lil' number will be listed soon..........

Buzzzzy as a bee.........

I feel like I have not taken a moment to breathe! I have been revamping my studio (spare room I call my studio ;) and it is still in slight disarray. I did manage to put up a few new listings on Etsy. More will be posted in the near future. I am focusing on creating more men's accessories. I mostly see these items as unisex. Below is an image of a pair of cuff links I recently listed.
I recently gave my grandfather a pair of cuff links I made. It was very endearing when he looked away and mentioned how my grandmother used to take his cuff links to use on her nursing uniform. I miss my G-ma.    ;(
